"Real" Parents

Well, it's settled...George & I are officially "real" parents. Along with using the phrases "Because I said so", "Do you hear me?" there are a few things that initiate you into "real" parenthood. One of those was acheived last night at the Jacobus household. What was it, you ask? Cleaning up your child's throw up in the middle of the night. Oh yes, the lovely stomach bug has visited our home and we are hoping it is on it's way out!! Last Thursday, I woke up with the virus and since then it has cycled through our kids. Hudson had it Saturday and Sunday and Hallie started last night. Poor thing - she actually threw up twice in her crib and we had to give her a bath after each time because of the mess and the smell!

I can't wait until it's over so that I can finally get out of the house!! I missed church on Sunday morning and Sunday night and since Hallie got sick last night I missed Bible study this morning. Hopefully tonight and tomorrow everyone is all clear so I can go to church tomorrow night.

So, to all my friends who have yet to have this experience -- get ready, your time is coming. And to all my friends who have been there/done that --- I hope you'll welcome me to the club!

Knock on wood, I have had my fair share of kids throwing up...but never in the middle of the night. Hopefully that little part of parenthood will pass me over! I can wish can't I??

We are THERE at this moment! My little Shae got sick last night before bedtime & today has been more of the same! We are truly "real" parents...I feel so grown up!

I knew I was a real mom the first time I actually reached out to CATCH the puke. I remember seeing other mom's do that and thinking they were crazy, but apparently it's instinctual. We welcome you, but don't stand too close - we don't want to catch it!

Oh the joys of parenting! Bill actually got puked on from the top bunk to the bottom where he was sitting. This was about as funny a moment as I can remember! Welcome to the club, keep your virus in CS, though!!

I decided this summer that there are certain things that once you've done them as a parent you should get a batch or a badge or something- like in scouts.

1. Catching throw up in your hand {it must be instinctual!}
2. capturing a stool sample
3.Recovering your babe from a thrown up covered crib

Eeewww......

The things we do!
